January 2009 Prayer Calendar

I know that many of you won’t have time to read this because of your busy
schedule, but let me ask you just one short question:

How many people tried to share Christ with you this year in 2008?

This question brings to mind an important point. I can probably count on
two fingers (maybe) the times that someone tried to take the initiative and
share the gospel with me this year. And this raises another question:

If so few tried to share Christ with me in 2008, and I was an unbeliever,
what would that mean about the effectiveness of the body of Christ in this
area? May we all resolve to find more creative and frequent ways to share
our faith and then may we faithfully do it..

January1- Pray for the new year and the challenges and opportunities ahead
as we faithfully present the answer for the hope within each of us as a
witness for Christ.

January2- Pray for boldness in the coming year as God brings opportunities
our way as a witness for Him.

January3 – Pray for Dean and Bob Nicol as they make their plans to go to
Kenya and southern Sudan. (Jan. 10 – 22)

January4 – Pray especially for Bob Nicol as he works out his travel plans
and the costs for overseeing water wells in both Ethiopia and Kenya. He will
in all likelihood extend his trip to Sudan to drill these two wells and
install a water distribution system by going to Ethiopia afterwards from
Jan. 22 – 26.

January5 – Pray that God might continue to bring us more and more great
laborers for the Harvest for the many areas in which we are working and
using as a platform for evangelism.

January6 – Pray for 3 young men that Dean might train as Directors in the
three continents in which we are presently active: Africa, South America,
and Asia.

January7- Pray for Dr. Katie Buck and Susan Buchanan (RN), our medical
consultant team, as we look into working with other organizations in
developing medical teams to send to our various oversea’s missions.

January8 – Pray that we will have little Dau, the 5 month old who underwent
double hernia surgery, back in Sudan with his mother, Akundivera. Dau is
the son of Moses Aguer Bol, the manager over our 499 orphans. We, also took
on 5 more orphans in desperate need last month.

January9 – Pray for Melaku and Sosi Abebe in Ethiopia as they oversee the
English School for Evangelism and help Dr. Katie Buck set up our medical
clinic in Meki.

January10 – Pray for Dean as he begins his trek to Sudan through London and
Nairobi, Kenya. Pray too for Joan as she leaves for Orlando, florida to see
our youngest daughter and their children. Bethany is expecting her second
little boy in May.

January11 – Pray for an opportunity for Dean to share the gospel with
someone on this leg of his trip.

January12 – - Pray for Dean as he meets for the first time with the entire
Board of Directors of the CrossWay Sudan Board. Pray for an effective and
encouraging meeting. They are helping to oversee the care and finances of
the orphans in Adoor, Sudan and well drilling in that region.

January13 – Pray for Dean and Bob Nicol as they start their trip toward
Sudan. Pray that we can take all the meds and gear we need as we start
this leg of our trip. We will be limited to 220 pounds each which includes
our weight. Pray that Dean gets down to 170 pounds. 3 more pounds to lose!

January14 – Pray for a safe arrival in Adoor as Bob, Harry and Dean take a
4-seater plane into this remote area.

January15 – Pray for the doctor we have lined up to care for the orphans
while there and that they will get the medical care they need. We will miss
Dr. Katie Buck on this trip, as she has such a big heart for kids in
distress.

January16 – Pray for Dean as he teaches and loves on the little orphans. And
pray that Bob Nicol might be able to assist and get all the orphans
registered, documented, and photographed while he is overseeing the setting
up of an extensive water distribution system in Adoor..

January17- Pray again for the item listed on the day before. We have 499
orphans and it will take a lot of work to get all this done. Bob will also
be checking out other villages that need wells desperately.

January18- Pray for Dean as he preaches at the church in Adoor.

January19- Bob and Dean will start their trek to Malualkon, Sudan to catch a
plane back to Nairobi. Pray for accommodations there for the night and
closing words to our coworkers and orphans.

January20- Pray for Dean and Bob as they take off on the dirt airstrip on
the 4-seater plane and that they catch their connecting flight in Loki,
Sudan back to Nairobi, Kenya.

January21- At this point, Dean and Bob probably separate. Pray that Bob
catches his plane to either Mombasa, Kenya or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,
depending on which way he goes, to oversee the drilling of a well in each
country. Bob is amazing in his devotion and excitement to serve the Lord in
this way and has personally financed much of this cost.

January22 – Pray for Dean as he recovers from this hard trip to this
difficult area and that he catches up quickly with all his emails and work
that will be waiting for him back in Texas.

January23 – Pray for the work in Guyana as we move the Way Internet Café to
a new and better location.

January24 – Pray for the CrossWay Coffee ministry as we should be close to
launching this new ministry which will help fund some of the humanitarian
projects that are so costly but so needed. Pray for Sandy Watts as he heads
up this project and provides the leadership. He is our Agricultural
Import/Export Consultant.

January25 – Pray for each of us that we might be very clear in explaining
that God is asking each unbeliever to place their trust in Jesus Christ
alone for their salvation. May we be not so clear that people understand us,
but rather so clear that people canNOT misunderstand us.

January26 – Pray for Deanna Hilbert as she works with Dean in raising
awareness of the pressing financial needs for drilling wells, caring for the
orphans, setting up medical clinics, and a host of other projects on our
agenda.

January27 – Pray for Ashley Courtney as she takes over for Anna Ochoa as
Dean’s assistant. Dean will really miss Anna as I know all those who have
worked with her in the past 18 months. Pray for Anna as she seeks God’s will
for her life!

January28 – Pray for the 15 water wells we hope to drill in southern Sudan
in the coming year. We have funds for one right now at the time of this
writing. Only 14 more to go! And pray for Steve Buchanan, our Construction
Consultant, who is drawing up plans for our medical clinic in Meki,
Ethiopia.

January29 – Pray for the heart of each of us as we go through the new year
and recommit ourselves to God and align ourselves with His will for each one
of us. May we all watch our hearts, for it is the well spring of life.

January30 – Pray for Malcolm Harris our coworker in Liberia, Lawson Sampson
in Nigeria, John Persaud in Guyana, Wilson Chan in Sudan, Melaku Abebe in
Ethiopia and the many others involved in our ministry around the world.

January31 – Pray for Dean’s upcoming trip to speak at the missions
Conference in Miramar, Florida and then fly out to be the key note speaker
at the missions conference week at Frontier School of the Bible in Lagrange,
Wyoming.
