August 2010 Crossway Prayer Calendar

Prayer Calendar for Dean and Joan Chollar and Crossway International
August 2010
www.gocrossway.org

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he
requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with
your God.
–Micah 6:8, NLT

August 1– Pray for Dean as he will be preaching in Stanwood, Washington in
the church where Jason, his son, serves as the Worship Pastor.  Pray that
hearts will be challenged.

August 2 – Pray for Dean as he returns from Washington, and that God might
bring him in to contact with someone who needs Christ.

August 3 – Pray for Bob Nicol, our Engineer for our new branch ministry
within CrossWay International, the CrossWay Water for Life (water well
drilling ministry). We are looking to the Lord for his personal support and
costs for such things as traveling to Kenya to receive our new drilling rig
which is being shipped in a large container.  Also, we have around $55,000
of the needed $65,000 to complete Phase One of this ministry. The $10,000
lacking is for shipping costs, some other equipment, and materials and set
up costs in Kenya.  (To read more about this ministry, please go to
http://gocrossway.org/whatsnew/crossway-water-for-life/

August 4 – Continue to pray for our 549 orphans in Sudan. The 15 which had
malaria have all recovered, and support for their food supply is drawing
down.  But they are now harvesting some of their own food which they have
grown.

August 5 – Pray for Merle Admire, our Master Electrician, who is working
with our water well drilling ministry as he considers focusing a bit more in
Central America. (See prayer request on Aug. 10, too)

August 6 – Pray for greater boldness for each of us as we have opportunity
to share the free gift of salvation through faith in Christ alone.

August 7 – Pray for Bruce McIntosh; he is looking to the Lord for His
guidance and support to serve as a missionary with us and serve as a
Christian Counselor and teacher at our Pastors’ Conferences.

August 8 – Pray for Rafa Rivas, our Field Director for Central America, and
the critical role he has in our ministry in setting up pastors’ conferences
and evangelistic efforts. Pray too for his support needs, as he is a
faith-based missionary… as are all with CrossWay International.

August 9 — Pray for Francisco Caldera, whom we hope to appoint as our
Nicaragua Field Director to work with Rafa Rivas, our Central America Field
Director. He would assist Rafa in setting up evangelistic efforts and head
up our water well drilling ministry there.

August 10 – 16 – Pray for Dean and the mission trip to Nicaragua with 3
pastors and Merle Admire. We will be conducting a pastors’ conference and
researching other evangelistic possibilities, as well as opportunities for
some water well drilling in this area.  Rafa and Francisco will be assisting
us.

August 17 – Pray for more laborers for our evangelistic work in the various
countries in which we are active. The Harvest is great but the laborers are
few.

August 18 – Pray for our coworkers in Sudan who care for our 549 orphans:
Managers, Pastors Samuel and Moses; 10 teachers for our school; Committee of
5 who oversee the funds, and the cleaning ladies and guards.

August 19 – Pray for the physical harvest of crops in Sudan to help feed the
orphans this year and that they might be able to assume more and more
responsibility as we make efforts to move them to a self-sustaining
position. Pray for the spiritual harvest as well.

August 20 – Pray for more opportunities for each one of us to share the
gospel of God’s grace and the free gift of eternal life through trusting in
Christ alone.

August 21 – Pray for Ken Gatithi, our manager of our ministry in Kenya who
is overseeing the development of our water well drilling ministry in
northeast Africa. His wife, Winnie, is expecting in a few months, so he has
his plate full!

August 22 – Pray for Dean as he preaches at NW Church in San Antonio and
challenges hearts for missions and evangelism.

August 23 – Pray for Geoffrey Ndungu, our superintendent of the field work
of drilling water wells in Kenya and surrounding countries. He recently lost
his wife and has two teenage kids.

August 24 – Pray for our NGO status in Kenya so we might legally function in
this country and possibly get tax-exempt privileges to help us do even more
for the Lord’s work.

August 25 – Pray for Sherry Zule, the manager over our CrossWay Coffee
Ministry.  She works very hard to help us raise awareness for our ministry
needs, especially for the needs of the orphans, and looks to the Lord to
raise up the needed funds. This ministry continues to provide a large
portion of this need for our orphans. Thank you to all who order our coffee
(www.crosswaycoffee.org

August 26 – Pray for our many supporting churches and for our many prayer
partners who give generously to keep us moving forward. We make a great team
and couldn’t do what God allows us to do without this team work.

August 27 – Pray for the clarity of the gospel, that we who trust in Christ
might clearly convey the gospel, the fact that all our sins are freely
forgiven when one puts their trust in Christ alone, who died for our sins
and rose again.

August 28 – Pray for the various pastors’ conferences on the drawing board
for the coming year, which we hope to develop alongside of our evangelistic
outreach events.

August 29 – Pray for Fernando Diaz and his work in Spain and Central America
and how we might work more effectively together in the coming year.

August 30 – Pray for the spreading of the gospel and the safety of those who
take the gospel into difficult and hostile areas of the world.

August 31 – Pray for someone you know right now who needs to hear the
message of God’s love and grace and how God might use you as an instrument
in His hand.

July 2010 Crossway Prayer Calendar

Prayer Calendar for Dean and Joan Chollar and Team
CrossWay International
July 2010
www.gocrossway.org

Special Note: We had a great mission trip to Nicaragua last June with the 8
of us who went. You will read some more prayer requests below so let’s
follow up on these needed prayers.  Also, I was very sick just before I was
to leave for a second mission trip in June to Guyana. Please pray for the 18
others who went without me.

July 1 – Pray for the 131 individuals who put their trust in Christ for the
forgiveness of their sins on our recent mission trip to Nicaragua. We had a
great time and worked really well together having one mind, being in one
spirit and purpose.

July 2 – Pray for our 549 orphans in Sudan as the past election in southern
Sudan has disrupted some things as well as some internal issues with our
management team in the field.  Also, 15 of our orphans have contracted
malaria, which is a killer. Pray for the support needed for more meds.

On this date, Joan also returns from Montana after visiting Rachel and
Jeremy and 4 of our granddaughters.

July 3- Pray for Bob Nicol and Merle Admire as they continue to develop our
new division (CrossWay Water for Life) and the shipping of the new water
well rig which should be leaving the Houston port soon. Pray that it gets
there safely and that we can cut through all the red tape and corruption
often associated with importing such equipment.

July 4- Pray for Dean as he preaches at Pipe Creek Community Church and
challenges hearts to bring others into the freedom we have in Christ.

July 5 – Pray for Kyle Parsons who is in Ethiopia and working with our
Northeast Africa Field Director. He has been there since June 1 and should
be home by July 15.

July 6 – Bob Nicol has been invited to go to Peru with Engineers Without
Borders. Pray for this upcoming trip from July 6 – 13.

July 7 – Pray for the upcoming mission trip with Dean and 3 other pastors to
Nicaragua for another pastors conference on August 10 – 16. This field in
Central America is starting to open up for us and we see some very good
potential for future ministry. We hope to take Merle Admire with us to check
out water well ministry.

July 8 – Pray for our Spanish speaking areas and personnel. We want to
better organize our Central America Ministry:  Field Director (Rafael
Rivas), our Spain coworker (Fernando Diaz) and another candidate (Francisco
Cadera).  They all face prayer and support needs to move things forward in
this field of ministry.

July 9 – Pray for parents with children who have special needs. 80 percent
of couples who have children with special needs end up in divorce due to the
huge pressure this puts them under. 3 of our coworkers fit in this category,
and I know they would really appreciate your prayers.

July 10 – Pray for Sherry Zule, our manager over the CrossWay Coffee
Ministry.  This ministry provides a large percentage of the support needs
for our 549 orphans in Sudan to help provide food, medicine and needs.
(Check out www.crosswaycoffee.org.

July 11 – Pray for the rest of our staff in the USA: Joan, our office
manager; Robert our General Manager; Anna, our Executive Assistant; Rita,
our accountant, and Dean, the CEO.  Pray that we will always maintain a good
team spirit as in the past.

July 12 – Pray for greater boldness on the part of all of us to share the
message of God’s grace and salvation that He provides through simple faith
in Christ.

July 13 – Pray for Dean’s speaking engagements as he lines up his travel
schedule for the coming months.

July 14 – Pray for our new Board of Directors in the USA. We have 12
Directors now and a good spirit of unity and purpose.

July 15 – Pray for more workers in God’s harvest field, especially for Kenya
and Nicaragua as we begin to concentrate more and more in these two
countries.

July 16 – Pray for more opportunities for each one of us to share the gospel
that God brings into our circle of influence.

July 17 – Pray for the farming going on in the village in Sudan where our
549 orphans reside. We have sponsored two men to teach and train the
villagers to begin to grow their own food and get on their own feet.

July 18 – Pray for our medical clinics in both Sudan and Ethiopia that we
might strengthen their capacity to serve the people in their community so
that people might see their good deeds and praise their father in heaven.

July 19 – Pray that we as believers might unlearn some of the churchy
phrases that unintentionally obscure the gospel. May we all learn to use the
predominant phrase in the New Testament and ask people to trust in Christ
alone who died for their sins and rose from the dead.

July 20 – Please pray for our efforts to set up the Board of Directors for
the CrossWay International Kenya ministry. We have some legal issues to work
through on this, and we want to make sure the right people are appointed.

July 21 – Pray for our non-profit/tax-exempt status for this Board mentioned
above so that we can get our drilling rig and equipment into Kenya without a
lot of tax and problems.  We have two Ministers of Parliament in Kenya who
are offering to help.

July 22 – Pray for the spreading of the gospel that it might spread swiftly
and that it might be honored just as it is among us.

July 23 – Pray for school supplies for our school in Sudan and also for the
Christian School in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Rich Mann is collecting school
supplies and Bibles for us to take into Nicaragua on August 10.  If you can
help and get them to me by August 8, I can pack them up and carry these in
when I go to teach a Pastors Conference. We need Spanish Bibles, writing
pads, pens and pencils, etc.

July 24 – Pray for Melaku Abebe, our Northeast Africa Field Director, and
all that he is overseeing from the Medical Clinic, to the school to training
and assisting others in the ministry.

July 25 – Pray for Geoffrey Ndungu, the newly appointed superintendent of
our well drilling team in Kenya. He lost his wife last month to a sudden
disease and has two teenage kids. In spite of this, he has worked tirelessly
to help prepare the way for the new well drilling ministry in Kenya.

July 26 – Pray for the safety of our new drilling team in Kenya.  As you may
remember, Bob Nicol lost his finger tip when practicing here in Texas with
the rig. It can be a dangerous job for fingers.

July 27 – Pray, too, for the safety of those who risk their life to share
the gospel of God’s grace overseas. Not all men are of faith and we face
some real hostility sometimes.

July 28 – Robert Messier, our General Manager, leaves for Delaware to
represent CrossWay International at Jubilee Fest, a special festival with
Christian musicians and events.   Bob Payton, our coworker at one of our
supporting churches in Maryland, is lining all this up. Pray for a fruitful
trip and that he can help raise awareness for our ministry.

July 29 – Pray for wisdom on how best to deal with some of the false
teachings overseas such as the “prosperity teaching” and so forth. These
extreme teachings tear up churches and do a great deal of harm.

July 30 – Pray for Dean who leaves for Seattle to preach at a supporting
church and visit his son Jason and family.

July 31 – Stop right now and pray for someone you know who does not yet know
the full forgiveness of their sins through simple trust in Jesus Christ.
Pray how you might be able to befriend them and share your testimony with
them.

June 2010 Crossway Prayer Calendar

June 2010 Prayer Calendar

Prayer Calendar for CrossWay International
For Dean and Joan Chollar and Team
http://gocrossway.org

Special thanks and prayer requests:
Thanks for all your prayers and please pray especially for our kids. Several
of them are facing some hard times as young adults.
Also pray for Bob Nicol and Merle Admire as they drill a test water well
with our new drilling rig in a few days. They plan to pick it up on May 24.
We hope to send the rig over in June in a container.
June 1 – 8 – Dean leaves for a pastors’ conference in Nicaragua with a
small team of around 8 people. Please pray for safe travel and a good time
to build up the body of believers in the area of Matagalpa. Pray too for
Rafael Rivas, our coworker who is newlywed (May 22) and for his support
needs as he goes out in faith trusting God to undergird his work and
ministry with CrossWay International as one of our key Field Directors.
Dean, Rafael, Allen Mann, and Robert Messier will be teaching a pastors
conference and the others will be leading a children’s ministry.
Also, check out our newest prayer letter:
http://gocrossway.org/2010/05/may-2010-crossway-prayer-letter-water-its-not-
just-for-drinking/

Also, we need a lot of power and hand tools to go along with this rig. If
you have any, please let us know.
See the list here:

http://gocrossway.org/whatsnew/crossway-water-for-life/combined-tool-list-2/

June 9 – Pray for Bob Nicol, our newest addition to our missionary team as
he lines up the details of packing a container to ship to Kenya. Bob is
heading up our new division along with Merle Admire, CrossWay Water for
Life, and is shipping our new drilling rig with all its pipe and
attachments. He plans to go himself in July to receive this container and
set up our drilling team to help provide not only clean safe drinking water
but the message of the Living Water Himself.
June 10 – Pray for Dean’s speaking engagements as he lines up his fall and
winter schedule. Let him know of any opportunities to challenge folks to
walk by faith and not by sight.
June 11 – Pray for our staff in the USA as we handle these many projects and
stay focused on keeping the gospel first and foremost.
June 12 – Keep our support needs in your prayers as many of our prayer
partners are designating donations for project which puts our general
account under some pressure. Pray that we might continue to keep our boat
upright as we move forward with faith in God.
June 13 – Pray for our many volunteer and supported coworkers around the
world who assist us in these many projects we are undertaking to use as a
platform for sharing the gospel.
June 14 – Pray for the various positions open in CrossWay International:
Apprentices for Dean, Manager over our clinics in Ethiopia and Sudan,
agriculture experts and teachers for our schools.
June 15 – Pray for the various translations of evangelistic materials and
messages into various languages.
June 16 – Pray for Dean and Joan’s grandson, Aaron, who suffers from severe
autism and is not getting the care he truly needs in his present school
system in the Stanwood, Washington area.
June 17 – Pray for 200 other orphans in Sudan who live not far off from the
549 orphans that we are presently helping. I got word last week that one of
the 200 died from malnutrition. We would like to help but our 549 are all we
can help at this time.
June 18 – Pray for greater boldness and faith when it comes to sharing the
gospel of Christ as there is no greater miracle than seeing one pass from
death to life. (John 5:24)
June 19 – 29 – Pray for Dean as he heads off for another pastors conference,
this time in Guyana with one of our supporting churches. Dean will be
preaching at a church in Georgetown and then moving on to the pastors’
conference in the Berbice region. Pray for his strength as travel takes a
toll on his aging body!
June 30 – Pray for someone you know today who needs to hear the gospel. The
only Bible some may read is your own life and effort of God to reach them
through you. (Phil. 2:13)

May 2010 Prayer Calendar

Prayer Calendar for CrossWay International
Dean and Joan Chollar
www.gocrossway.org

May 1 – Pray that the Lord might provide some new or used laptops for our
coworkers in Guyana and Nicaragua, as I will be making a number of trips
there this summer and these kinds of items are really useful to them.

May 2 – Pray that the Lord will raise up  the needed funds to purchase the
water well drilling rig, and that Bob Nicol and Merle Admire might have the
time to practice at least one well in Texas before we ship it to Northeast
Africa. For a musical picture display, go to www.gocrossway.org and check
out the “What’s New” Tab.

May 3 – Pray for Dean as he speaks at an Emmaus group in the Hill Country of
Texas and challenges them to work more closely with our ministry.

May 4 – Pray for both Bob Nicol and Merle Admire as they speak at various
locations to raise awareness for the needs in our new division within
CrossWay International, the CrossWay Water for Life Ministry.

May 5 – Pray for the various matching gifts that have been offered for our
water well drilling ministry and that they might be fully funded. The first
phase of this effort will run around $65,000 for the rig, shipping, truck,
and associated costs. We have about 1/3 of this needed amount.

May 6 – Pray for our coworkers in Ethiopia: Melaku, who serves as our NE
Africa Field Director and those he oversees in the Medical Clinic and the
English School for Evangelism and the house churches.

May 7 – Pray for our 549 orphans, as the account for them is getting low
from which we send in money for food, clothes, and management costs.

May 8 – Pray for our Board of Directors meeting for CrossWay International,
as we hope to install 7 more Directors to make up for the 3 who left
recently.  Several will be coming from out of town, so pray for safety for
them and that they won’t miss their connecting flights.

May 9 – Mother’s Day.  Pray for all the mothers of the world and the hand
that rocks the cradle.

May 10 – Pray for our Committee overseeing the needs of the 549 orphans in
Sudan near Darfur, as violence has erupted near them due to the elections in
Sudan.

May 11 – Pray for the harvest of the crops in the village where our orphans
live, as our first crop should come in soon. Pray that it might be a
bountiful harvest!

May 12 – Pray for wisdom as we make decisions on where to drill our water
wells in the coming months once we get things in place in NE Africa.

May 13 – Pray for the upcoming mission trip to Nicaragua with a team of
people, and for Rafa Rivas, our coworker, who is setting up the pastors’
conference and VBS ministries for our team.

May 14 – Pray for Dean as he leaves for the greater Seattle area to visit
his son and his family.

May 15 – Pray for Dean as he speaks at a special men’s Bible study in
Stanwood, Washington with Joshua Flickner who heads up this ministry.

May 16 – Pray for Dean as he preaches and challenges hearts to exercise a
moment by moment faith in God and to walk by faith and not by sight. Then
pray for Dean as he catches a red eye flight back to Texas at 11:45 PM that
night.

May 17 – Pray for our school in Sudan where we have 5 classes with 110 kids
in each class.  We could use more blackboards, books, and school supplies.

May 18 – Pray for Bruce McIntosh, a candidate missionary who is trained in
counseling, which is sorely needed overseas. Pray that God might raise up
his support for this needed work, as he has many requests for his services
in counseling.

May 19 – Pray for Dean’s schedule trip to Guyana in June to teach at a
pastors’ conference with a supporting church, and for the coworkers we have
in that country, John Persaud and Michael Williams.

May 20 – Pray that the Lord will raise up additional funds for the medicine
needed in our two clinics: one in Ethiopia and the other in Sudan. This is
an ongoing battle to keep the right kind and enough medicine to treat the
various issues that come up, such as Cholera, diarrhea, and malaria.

May 21 – Pray for the needed personnel to run the drilling rig in NE Africa.
We have had a number of interviews and need your prayers that the right men
might be chosen.

May 22 – Pray for Rafa Rivas as he marries this day and begins his new life
with Darling, his fiancée.  As soon as they get back from their honey moon,
he receives our team on June 1.

May 23 – Pray for the various groups who are raising awareness for the needs
of the orphans in many different cities and churches in the USA.

May 24 – Pray that more people might go to our website
www.crosswayorphans.org and sign up to pray for and sponsor one of our
orphans in Sudan.

May 25 – Keep on praying that God might raise up a few young men to come
along side and assist Dean in the work load he has. Dean is not getting any
younger!

May 26 – Pray for our USA staff as they work hard to keep things moving
forward in handling the accounting, graphic work for prayer letters, and
power points, etc.

May 27 – Pray for our other coworkers in Nigeria and Liberia and for an
opportunity to visit them in the coming year.

May 28 – Pray for all of our CrossWay Coffee Ambassadors and the key role
they play in helping us provide funds– especially for the food for the
orphans. Every bag that is ordered pays for enough food to feed one orphan
for one entire month.

May 29 – Pray for you, our prayer partners and our many churches that give
sacrificially to sustain our ministry and keep us moving forward in service
to God and the lost.

May 30 – Pray for greater boldness in sharing our faith with others, and
that we might make very clear that our salvation is a free gift through
faith alone in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose from the dead.

May 31 – Memorial Day – Pray for all our military and the dangers they face
to keep us free.  Pray that our government doesn’t take away this freedom
through poor decisions.
