CrossWay International is asking our prayer partners to please take a look at this PDF about a new school we’re sponsoring in Ethiopia for orphans and needy kids. We ask that you pray about it and if God puts it on your heart to share it with others who are interested in helping orphans and needy kids.
Eric Long is planning on taking a mission trip to Ethiopia to help CrossWay and Melaku. Click to see his prayer letter. If God puts it on your heart, please pray for Eric and his support needs to help a lost and hurting people in Ethiopia.
Dean has made a a number of trips to Ethiopia, and it has been one of our brightest and best ministries. It all started when Dean received an email in the fall of 2003 requesting him to come and be the key note speaker at a pastor’s conference for 500 pastors from Ethiopia early one morning. He gave it some thought but put it aside as maybe a prank. That same morning he went to a Bible study, and the topic that day was Acts 8 and the Ethiopian eunuch. He shared with the men how he had just received an email from someone named Melaku in Ethiopia and wondered if maybe God was leading him to consider this request more seriously. All the men agreed that he should look into it, and the remark that convinced Dean was when one of the men stood up and said, “Either God is calling you to Ethiopia or to become a eunuch!”Well, Dean got his plane ticket, and the mission trip of December 2003 was one of the best ever.
Since then, Dean and our coworker, Melaku Abebe, have started a number of ministries, including a school, water well, and a medical clinic as a means of gaining a hearing for the gospel. The English School for Evangelism, started in 2005 in Addis Ababa, is self-supporting and has spun off 5 house churches and seen many come to faith in Christ.

In the city of Meki, some two and a half hours southeast of Addis Ababa, we have drilled one well and we are setting up a Medical Clinic, which is opening doors to work with the few pastors and believers in this area. Meki is a city of approximately 60,000 people without any kind of Doctor or medical personnel. Many of the ailments they suffer from are due to a lack of good, safe drinking water. Dean and Melaku are following up on these open doors for leadership training and evangelistic outreach.
