October 2020 Prayer Update
CrossWay TecNica Classes Are Growing! Our team in Nicaragua is hard at work recruiting students, and we are up to 40 students total!
As more and more parents are sending their kids back to public school classes, more students and families are asking about our courses at CrossWay TecNica and beginning to join. We are now offering English for kids, beginners, advanced and even a specialized class for working in an English language call center. We also have a basic computer skills class, as well as beginner and advanced Ms Excel, and even a "PC Repair and Maintenance" class.
We have new brochures at the print shop right now and should be able to start using those soon as a promotional tool.
We also have established a good relationship with the regional education minister over the past few months, and have received permission to go into the public schools as volunteers to help, and for recruiting.
In more positive news, we are making excellent progress regarding our accreditation status, and are assured we are almost done.
Things to pray for:
Water in Riamugaa Central Square! (Kenya) You may recall that we were able to help the approximately thousand households of Riamugaa connect to their local water service, including building an elevated storage tank. In addtion, we have now been able to extend the water service from that spot on the edge of town, all the way to a faucet right in the middle of the central town square. This community is excited to have clean water available in such a convenient location. Here is a picture of the site under construction. We hope to have more pictures of the water in use soon. Prayer Requests:
Mercy the Milkgoat has Kids!
A few years ago, Julia Wanjiru, an 80 year old widow from Ndigaru, a village about 2 kilometers from Riamugaa, received a milkgoat with the name "Mercy", from Irene, one of our US donors, ... and we are happy to report that "Mercy the Milkgoat" has had twin kid goats of her own! We even got some "baby" pictures for you to enjoy. This is part of what makes the "Milk Goats for Widows" project so exciting: It is a gift that keeps giving! Three Phase Power Connection Is Complete!
A few years back, the Kenyan power company advised us to consider installing 3 phase power at our main outreach site in Sagana. Why install 3 phase power, you ask? We were told that the combination of energy requirements of the water well pump and all of the buildings onsite would put a strain on the local power grid. We were told that we should be able to save money on our monthly power bill. And perhaps most importantly, we were assured that we would be much less likely to lose power, which currently happens fairly regularly for days at a time. You can imagine how inconvenient that is, unexpectedly not being able to pump any more water, losing our wifi connection, and how difficult and costly it is to keep food from spoiling in a refrigerator when the power goes on and off. Regardless of the why, however, we went ahead and did as they advised and plunked down quite a bit of money a couple of years ago and after much delay, it is finally complete! Praise the Lord!
Fall Newsletter in Production
Here in the office we are hard at work getting our physical paper newsletter ready to print and send out. If you aren't receiving our physical newsletter, we would love to send it to you. Sometimes it's nice to have that in person, tactile feel rather than all digital, right? You can always put in on the fridge with a magnet, or in your Bible, or even in the bathroom, so you remember to pray for us!
If you would like to be added (or removed for that matter) from our physical mailing list, just let us know: info@gocrossway.org
Persevering Together These are certainly crazy times we are living in. Thank you for your faithful partnership, and let's keep praying, and not become weary in doing good!
