November 25, 2022 Prayer Update

How to Pray for CrossWay International

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving.   Here are some more reports, pictures and prayer requests

Kenya

Report from Jason and Melissa Chollar

On the way to our first pastoral training conference in Kitui, there were some beautiful trees on the side of the road.

When we arrived in Kitui, we were able to meet up with Jacob for the first time.

Isaac, Moses, Jason, Melissa & Jacob

The next day we traveled from Kitui quite a ways into the hills to a small community called Miambani where a group of pastors and church leaders from 5 different local villages had made the time to come and attend our training conference.

I (Jason) gave a short introduction, but for the most part it was Isaac and Jacob who led the training.
I was just observing and taking notes.

Toward the end of the training we had them break up into small groups to practice what they learned.

Here is the group of Pastors and church leaders who attended this training Seminar on how to study the scriptures

The next day we made the journey to the other side of Nairobi (West) to the Lake Naivasha area.

On the way we were treated to a beautiful view of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya.

Please pray for:

  • Miambani (Kitui area) conference teaching to really sink in deep and make profound changes as many for the first time really begin to study the scriptures for themselves, rather than just believe whatever they are told.  Sadly there is a lot of false teaching that continues to be spread because many just accept what they are told by their superiors without studying it for themselves. People are actively discouraged from daring to even ask questions. Many Pastors in Kenya consider it disrespectful to do what the Bereans are COMMENDED for doing in Acts 17:11 "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."  We are encouraging these leaders to be like the Bereans and examine the scriptures for themselves.
  • Our next training conference is in Karagita, near lake Naivasha. Please pray the same for this group: that they would put these principles into practice and experience what happens when we pursue God by meditating on and studying the scriptures for ourselves, ESPECIALLY if they are Pastors!
  • Up next in the trip, this coming Sunday I (Jason) will be preaching at Moses' church in Sagana.
  • That evening, Melissa and I will kick off a short marriage retreat.
  • In addition, we will be holding daily "Grace Workshops" for the community, helping them to understand and live out the grace-filled life more fully!
  • We will also be visiting a variety of mercy outreach projects.
    • We will be able to celebrate the construction of the water/bathroom system in Riamugaa where we will get to share the gospel with the whole community!
    • Visit the project in Ngando that is in process and
    • Visit some future possible projects ...

Lots more pictures and stories to come!

Thanks so much for your prayers!

-Jason and Melissa
