April 1 – Pray for the needed protection and support for our medical team
(Dr. Katie Buck, Susan Buchanan (RN), and Melaku Abebbe) whom we are sending
into Sudan to care for our 499 orphans/destitute children of Sudan.  The
total cost for all this will run around $12,500 and most has not yet come in
so you have time! They leave April 16.

April 2 – Pray for a greater awareness for all of us  that “he who helps the
needy, honors God”
(Prov. 14:31b) and that many will help the neediest of the world with their
prayers and love.

April 3 – Pray for needed Coffee Coordinators and Contacts in our churches
for the start of the CrossWay Coffee Ministry. We are offering bags of
freshly micro-roasted coffee from various countries  (Fair Trade) and the
proceeds go to feed the orphans and other related ministry expenses and
projects. If you can’t adopt an orphan, … adopt a bag of coffee!
For more information on this contact: Dean at dean@gocrossway.org

April 4 – Pray for Robert Messier and Sherry Zule, our newest staff members,
who are overseeing the new CrossWay Coffee Ministry and that we will
continue to have recurrent orders to sustain our orphans in Sudan.

April 5 – Please pray for the new website we are developing for the pictures
of our 499 orphans and destitute children in Sudan  so people can be more
familiar with them and possibly even sign up to sponsor one.

April 6 – Please pray, too, for the new website we are having developed
(crosswaycoffee.com) which will allow others to sign up to order coffee.
Keep in mind that every bag that is ordered provides around $5 which feeds
one of these kids for almost one month.

April 7  - Pray for Ashley Courtney as she continues to do a great job
assisting Dean and the main office in Boerne, Texas.  She is also recently
married and labors in the evening beside her husband who serves as the youth
pastor at Watermark Church of Boerne.  God bless the young and their energy
level!

April 8 – Pray for Rita our accountant who is stepping up to handle more and
more work that is coming our way.  We really miss Sue Rushing who handled
much of this for the past 12 years!

April 9 – Pray for the Directors of CrossWay International here in the USA
and for their wives and family.  Some of the wives and kids of these
Directors are under pressure from a host of maladies and circumstances and
we know they would appreciate your prayers very much.

April 10 – Pray for The CrossWay Sudan Board and the valuable role and
advice they have given Dean over the past years. They are, in a sense, our
silent partners who get very little recognition.

April 11 – Pray for Melaku Abebe who heads up the CrossWay Ethiopia Board of
Directors in Addis Ababa. He is a very strong friend, coworker and fellow
soldier and will assume a growing responsibility not only in Ethiopia but
beyond.

April 12 – Pray that many might come out on this Resurrection Sunday and be
gently but powerfully confronted with the glorious resurrection event of the
Lord Jesus. May we never forget that we serve a living God, not one that
still hangs on a cross.

April 13 – Pray for Dean as he leaves for Amsterdam, Kenya and Uganda where
he will meet up in Nairobi with the medical team going into Sudan on the
17th.  Dean will oversee this tricky departure of theirs into this remote
area.

Then Dean on that same day will leave for the teaching assignment of a
pastor’s conference in Uganda

April 14 – Pray for Ken Gatithi, one of our Directors of CrossWay, who is
lining up all this paper work.

April 15 – Pray for Dean’s meeting with Melaku Abebe, the head of our
CrossWay Sudan Board of Directors and the  Directors of CrossWay Sudan. We
have a lot to discuss and important decisions and challenges facing us.

April 16 – Pray again for the arrival of our Medical Team from the USA ( Dr.
Katie buck and Susan Buchanan (RN) ) as they arrive in Nairobi and prepare
for their entry into southern Sudan. Pray that they will be able to purchase
some extra needed medication that we might need for our orphans.

April 17 – Pray for Dean as he leaves Nairobi, Kenya to head off to
Entebbe/Kampala, Uganda to meet up with the Call To Africa team and begin
their work of evangelism and teaching of 500 pastors from Uganda.

April 18 – Pray for our Medical Team as they begin their work in the village
near Malualkon and for Melaku as he handles various issues.

April 19 – Pray for safe travel and a good and effective time of ministry
whether with the Word of God as in Dean’s preaching or with the needed
medicine for the Medical Team.

April 20 – Pray for the CrossWay Christian School in Sudan that we started
last March 1 and for the12 teachers to communicate and pass on not only
knowledge but the love and Word of God to these precious little children.

April 21 – Pray that God will prepare hearts for those to whom we have come
to serve in Uganda, Kenya and Sudan on this trip.

April 22 – Pray for greater boldness in sharing the gospel and challenging
others to put their trust in Christ alone for their salvation.

April 23 – Pray for more workers in God’s kingdom to assist us in reaping
His harvest and a praise of thanks for the ones He has brought our way
recently.

April 24 – Pray for Dean as he finishes up his work in Uganda and heads back
from Entebbe/Kampala to Nairobi to meet up with the Medical Team coming out
of Sudan.

April 25 – Pray for Dean as he debriefs and assists the Medical Team from
Sudan and they all begin their trip back to the USA.

April 26 – Pray that the whole team is well and excited about what God has
done in and through them and that we all catch our plane flights and get
home safely to our loved ones.

April 27 – Pray for more opportunities for each of us to have an impact in
reaching out to the hurting of this world and bringing them the Gospel of
God’s grace and some of the physical relief that is so badly needed.

April 28 – Pray for the clarity of the Gospel by those of us who know Jesus
Christ and that we might share fearlessly that salvation cannot be earned in
any way by our goodness or works, but that it is totally by grace, alone,
through faith alone, in Christ alone.

April 29 –  Pray for the many people who are helping us fund our various
ministries through helping us with the orders for the CrossWay Coffee
Ministry. This “income generating project” is producing surprising results
and we are thankful to God for all you who are participating.

April 30 – Pray for the spreading of God’s message of grace that it be done
through all means possible and that each of us might follow Paul’s lead in
becoming all things to all men in hopes that we might win some.

The Smell of Coffee

The CrossWay Coffee Ministry is moving forward.  We’ve had over 300 donations for coffee orders which generated around $1500 for the orphans needs.  Sherry Zule and Robert Messier have joined the fun in the office as we try to keep up with this new ministry.  If you want to join in on our coffee fun, and order a bag of micro-batch roasted coffee, let us know.

February 2009 Prayer Letter – A Glance into Sudan

Read about Dean’s recent trip to Sudan and the 499 orphans we are taking care of there.

Dean Headed to Florida

Dean left today for a mission’s conference of one of his supporting churches in Florida. Please pray for this trip.

In addition to this he just got word that his daughter-in-law and her three children were in a car accident. Thankfully they all seem to be okay, but we think the van is totaled. Please pray for Heather as she is experiencing some pain in her neck.
