Dear brothers and sisters, there is a TON going on at CrossWay International this month!  We are SO thankful for your faithful prayers and support!

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16b, NIV)

Here are some ways for you to pray!

USA Team Traveling in October

Jason and Melissa will be traveling this month to visit prayer partners in Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Washington DC and Maryland!  Would you pray for us?

  • Pray that we would be good witnesses to the lost, boldly looking for opportunities to share Christ on the way, right here in the USA!
  • Pray that we would be good witnesses, testifying to the good work that God is doing around the world, building HIS Kingdom!
  • Pray that the Lord would provide for travel expenses and give us energy.

Nica Hilltop Thanksgiving Outreach Parties!

House by house, the families are getting access to running water for the first time ever!  It is very exciting for the community and we are hoping to maximize the witness and impact.  The community has decided to hold a celebration in each of their houses, and especially invite friends and family who are not yet believers, so they can give testimony about how God has generously provided both physical water, AND the waters of eternal life, through faith in Jesus.  Holding these “Thanksgiving Parties” at each of their houses, they are able to get people to come, who might not come to church, but ARE willing to come to their house.  Instead of a pastor preaching, we have a believer from that very household share the gospel. Our music and soccer youth teams will be there as well to provide music.

  • Pray for the preparation and training of the people who are sharing the gospel.
  • Pray for God’s timing and good weather and God’s provision.  The latest heavy rains have washed out the road again, which makes it hard for people who are invited to be able to come.
  • Pray for God’s provision for water bucket filters for the drinking water.  We are waiting for water test results to come back, but regardless, we want to make sure that each family has a filtration system for the water they drink!
  • Pray that many would come to Christ as a result of these Thanksgiving Outreach Parties!

Pastoral Training in Kenya

Once again, our faithful coworker Bob Hamilton has a full month rotation scheduled, teaching seminars in various communities, to the networks of pastors that we have been establishing.  This trip, Bob is even bringing his son, Jim, with him! Seminar topics scheduled include: Gift Booklet evangelism training, Basic Bible Interpretation, overview of the book of Galatians, The Purpose of the Church and more.  Locations for this trip include Ruiru, Sagana, Kisanju. Mutalia. Kwa mating’i, Kiliku, Mwingi, Kivingoni, Nanyuki and Naivasha.

Bob has been visiting Kenya faithfully for many years now, creating these seminars to target a progression of things that the Kenyan Pastors are most eager to hear about.  And Bob has been training our key coworkers to be able to do these seminars, to carry on the teaching even when he isn’t around!  These key coworkers are meeting with Bob, Moses and Isaac for enhanced training and planning discussion. This will be the basis for much of our discipleship training going forward.

  • Pray for safety, strength and stamina for the long trip, both the trip to Kenya and back, as well as all of the traveling within the country itself!
  • Pray for clarity and understanding, and that these pastors would be moved by the Spirit to implement the things they learn.
  • Pray again for provision.  These rural pastors are all bi-vocational and struggling financially.  Attending these seminars is an act of faith, giving up work days that would usually be spent trying to provide an income for their families.
  • Pray for the leadership team that they continue to grow spiritually and become the leaders Kenya needs for discipleship within the church.

Foundations for Farming Training

We recently sent Moses and John to Zimbabwe to receive intensive “Foundations for Farming” training in Conservation Agriculture practices.  They came back very excited, and we think this is going to be a HUGE help, especially to the 400+ widows in our care, and to the poor rural pastors that we are serving.

Pray that they implement the methods faithfully (happening as we speak) and that they eventually bring in a great harvest, to be able to show the difference that it makes.

  • Pray that the Lord helps us to figure out the best way to spread this great information, which gives such great glory to our God, the generous Master Gardener who planted the FIRST garden!
  • Pray for provision. Because of the time constraint, we pulled the trigger and sent them BEFORE asking for funding, so we had to dip into our emergency buffer to pay for this trip.

Community Health Evangelism Training

Community Health Evangelism (or CHE for short) is another methodology that I have recently discovered in my studies.  CHE has been incredibly successful, especially among the rural poor communities.  This method emphasizes empowering poor communities, helping them to break out of the unbiblical mindsets that are keeping them trapped in poverty.  The track record for this methodology is very impressive, making lasting positive change in the communities that are willing to implement it.  It is a more in depth process, so slower in the beginning, but the physical and spiritual results are quite impressive.

  • Pray for Moses and Isaac who are scheduled to start a week of training in Nairobi on October 6th!
  • Pray that we would receive the funds for this training.

Pray for Provision

Due to inflation, finances are tighter for everyone.  We have lost a few key partners in the past couple of years, some due to covid and old age and others due to changes in church leadership.  Even so, we walk by faith, not by sight and are convinced that the Lord will provide for the work he guides us to accomplish.  We are working hard to Show, Tell and Teach.  We are so very thankful for your prayers and support!

  • Please pray for wisdom for us to be the very best stewards of what the Lord provides.
  • Please pray for new prayer partners, who are willing to join us to help accomplish the work.

Thanks for Your Prayers!
