During the first half of July 2025, we were able to send most of the core CWI Kenya Team to the level 2 Training of Trainers (T.O.T.) for the Community Health Evangelism method and strategy:  Jason and Melissa from the USA, and Moses, Edith and Isaac from Kenya.

Jason, Moses, Melissa, Edith and Isaac

We were missing Isaac’s wife, Tabitha, who had to go home to watch over their daughter, Kimberly.  We are hoping to send her through this same training at a later date.

What are we learning?

We learned many things at this training including one of their most essential strategies, the LePSAS teaching method.

Another key principle of the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) strategy is INTEGRATION, integrating BOTH spiritual and physical needs in the lessons.  In a similar way that God wants us to love him AND our neighbor, we must care for both the spiritual AND physical needs of our neighbors.

Many other lessons were taught including:

  • the important difference between Crisis (requiring Relief) and Chronic (requiring Community Development)
  • the importance of gratitude and asset-based approach to development
  • the importance of local ownership, reproducible methods, … and much more!
