Most people in Nicaragua have never heard the good news that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. In the minds of most people, we are all trying to live “moral lives” and we can only hope that we are “good enough”. Some keep trying really hard, hoping that by faithful church attendance and following all of the rules, they can earn right relationship with God and eternal life. Others, weary of the heavy burden of legalism, just give up.
What an honor and privilege it is for Kevin to be an ambassador of the true gospel, which really IS good news! Once people understand that they are forgiven and secure because of JESUS, it sets them free! Then all the good works they do, are done in the power of the Holy Spirit, out of a motivation of gratitude and love, not fear. And THIS is truly pleasing to our Father in heaven!
