Dear Praying friends,
Please pray for protection for our 494 orphans in Adoor, Sudan as the cholera outbreak has spread. We have lost one orphan, and a number of other adults have recently come down with cholera. I’m headed to that area this January 10 to assist in putting in a water distribution system (elevated water tank and above ground piping, etc.) which will help. Please pray that a doctor will be able to go so that the orphans can get the treatment for their worms and diarrhea and protection against cholera just to mention a few things.
Also, I’m walking a “Fine Line”. In the recent years, I have always struggled with how much to say about my work and travels as they sometimes take me into areas of the world hostile to not only the gospel but also to Americans in general. I take this risk knowing that it is my calling but do not want to bring unnecessary risk to either myself or those believers who may receive me in their country. It’s hard to know how much to say when trying to gather prayer support and at the same time to be judicious and careful not to say too much.
In view of this, let me say that I’m planning on a number of trips to such places and may have to be a bit withholding in some comments. But please pray for me as I walk this fine-line … The more effective the outreach is, the more likely you could become a target of extremists.
Blessings,
Dean
